Ankle and Foot Pain

Ankle and Foot Pain

Ankle and foot pain is a common issue with sudden and repetitive trauma to the joints, muscles, tendons, and ligaments of the ankle and foot.

Some ankle and foot issues present after obvious injuries, such as ankle sprains. These injuries heal somewhat on their own with time, while some sprains/strains require exercise therapies like strengthening and balance training to fully heal and reduce risk of re-injury. In these types of injuries, hands-on techniques that Chiropractors use like soft tissue and joint techniques often help to relieve pain and improve function as you recover. This has the result of shortening recovery times and reducing how long you may need before getting back to work, home, or sport(s), and reducing the risk of re-injury.

Other injuries are more chronic and ongoing, such as plantar fasciitis. These issues may need thorough assessment of the ankle and foot posture, control, and strength. Many of these issues develop gradually due to issues in the above areas, and full resolution may require the combination of hands on therapies for relief, as well as exercise therapies to address and fix functional contributors.
